How to be a Good Neighbor

We are starting to work with the community to make this a better place for you to live. This is a developing part of the Off-Campus Housing Program. We look forward to your feedback and participation.

No place is isolated from its surroundings. The neighborhood, the university, and even the City of Ann Arbor affect the way we live – and there’s more to being a good neighbor than a good fence. Making a good impression means taking pride in your place – presenting an image that makes you proud to call it your home.

General "Do's"

• Do meet your neighbors Do respect their needs and desires
• Do get to know your neighborhood
• Do talk to your neighbors about noise/parties, and see if you can create a solution that does not involve the police/a ticket.
  

General "Don'ts"

• Do not trash anything that you are not going to clean up
• Do not rattle floors with your CD player (or anything else)
• Do not wait for someone else to clean up a mess
  

Houses

• Invite your neighbors to your parties
• Do not park your car, or your visitors' cars, in your neighbor's parking space
• Treat your house like your home.
  

Apartments

• Do not leave your clothes in the washer/dryer longer than necessary
• Remember that your neighbors live just inches away
